Koko in Camden – Metal thrashing mad

Bar at Koko

So for old gits like me, i still remember this Camden venue as the Camden Palace, my first time back here under its new trendy image. Tonight’s line up is Testament (Bay Area legends), supported by Annihalater and Vader (yes Vader play the star wars music, awesome), for a Thrash metal blow out, just the thing for a wet Thursday in April. The stage and set up is still pretty old school inside, but great for atmosphere and live gigs. Ill add a couple of photos later. Inside its dark and grungy, and the perfect place for someone to feel as if Denim on denim is perfectly reasonable (really not), but the badges and long hair are out in force tonight. With venue open early and three bands, drinks are flowing early.

Downstairs i was confronted by a high, red illuminated tall bar with ornate high chandeliers (the fancy touches!), and my better half and I scoured the shelves as we usually do for the Whisky selection. Pleasant surprised by at least a choice across Scotch and Bourbon, nothing fancy, but not the place for it. Jim Beam selected tonight, service is swift and the music fuels the pace. Party atmosphere, and plenty forgetting that there’s work tomorrow.
